Got Milk?

Or eggs for that matter!  The bowl on the 2nd shelf is yogurt that I'm straining (another 2 qts of milk used) and behind that is a gallon jug full of milk.

  1. Way to go, Kelly! Let us know how the yogurt comes out!

  2. It's usually quite tangy. Not the way I would choose to eat it, so I use it for smoothies with orange juice and bananas. The other night when I ordered cheese cultures I ordered "sweet yogurt culture" that I'll be eager to try out! I didn't realize how much the top shelf bows under the weight of all that milk!

  3. Kelly, I was wondering, can you make ice cream with your yogurt? There is a place in St. Louis called Ted Drews frozen yogurt and it is very good stuff. Just an idea. lol does the top shelf look that bowed in person, or was it the angle of the camera that makes it look like that?

  5. I made ice cream with a batch of yogurt that never firmed up and it was just as tangy as the yogurt itself. I think I mixed frozen berries into it while it was "churning" and it was good enough for Tony to eat.

  6. Melodie-yes, smiling on all the blessings we have. So much so that I can't fit another jar of milk in the fridge! This morning we've used 5 quarts, but added 2. I sure hope the cheese cultures get here soon! I've got a gallon warming in the crockpot to try Amy's simple recipe using apple cider vinegar.

  7. I love it. Nothing better than opening the fridge and seeing milk from my goat girl, eggs from my chicken girls, and meats grown by my friends.
If you lived closer, I would um, help you, dispose of some of that milk.
